Kelly Rae Cunningham
My paintings employ layers of color, worked with palette knives and brushes, whimsical use of dot and line, energetic brush strokes, and bold colors. I have been painting, exhibiting and filling walls of homes and apartment buildings for twenty years. I am mostly a self taught painter, and my work is a lot of experimentation and exploration. I paint with many different mediums as they lend different qualities to the process: oil for the saturation of color and patience, acrylic for speed, collage and layering for depth, and encaustics (oil and wax) as it is tactile and most like working with clay.
