Nicola started painting at age three in Northern Ireland where she was born. Her mentor was another artist, her mother. Her father built an easel and carved a small palette to fit her fingers. Most kids were covered in dirt at that age; Nicola was covered in oil. Her parents moved to America and Nic picked up the palette again as she was raising her own two children. Regardless of life's changing tide, the easel has always remained in a good light.
